James Tait -Jamieson
Las Vegas-trained Singer/Saxophonist/Entertainer, duo through to 17-piece band, Jazz, Latin, Blues, Pop
Recently returned from a two-and-a-half-year stint in Las Vegas, Nevada, James Tait-Jamieson is one of Wellington’s top jazz performers, rare in that he sings and plays the sax equally well. An expert band leader, James loves entertaining people and is absolutely at home in front of an audience. Extremely comfortable in a range of musical style from jazz to pop, James has something for everyone.
Living in “The Entertainment Capital of the World”, James had the opportunity to perform regularly on the Las Vegas Strip and beyond; including Caesar’s Palace, the Bellagio, Wynn Las Vegas, Lake Las Vegas Resort, Four Seasons at the Mandalay Bay, the Greek Isles, the Green Valley Ranch, and the Reno and Mount Charleston Jazz Festivals. As well as working with many of “Sin City’s” finest musicians, James had the honour of performing with broadway icon Tommy Tune and some of America’s top modern jazz players including Jo La Barbera, Bob Shepherd, Rich Perry, Clay Jenkins, David Loeb, Bruce Paulson, Tim Hagans, and Tom Warrington.
It was in Las Vegas, Frank Sinatra’s old haunting ground, that James discovered the music of Michael Bublé and Jamie Cullum, and came up with the idea for his tribute show, ‘Sons of Sinatra.’
James graduated with a Master of Music degree from UNLV in 2006 and returned to New Zealand in 2007. He now sings, plays saxophone, and entertains all over New Zealand, at private functions and in public concerts from his base in the lower North Island.
